                Regional Australia's Renewables (RAR)

The Regional Australia’s Renewables (RAR) initiative supported trials of renewable energy solutions, including hybrid systems, in regional and remote locations with the aim of increasing the use of these technologies for power generation once they become affordable. The initiative had two parts. The RAR Industry Program (I-RAR) aimed to build a portfolio of renewable energy solutions in regional and remote Australia, focusing on hybrid and integrated systems in off-grid and fringe-of-grid communities. It also contributes to knowledge sharing and skills development, especially in regional and remote areas. The RAR Community and Regional Renewable Energy Program…

South Australia Retailer Energy Efficiency Scheme

In 2009, the government of Southern Australia introduced an energy efficiency obligation for the residential and small business sectors,  concerning  electricity and gas consumption. Obligated parties include primary retailers with 5 000 or more electricity or natural gas residential customers in South Australia; secondary retailers with annual electricity purchases greater than 27 000 MWh, or annual gas purchases greater than 100 000 GJ.

Total energy efficiency targets for primary and secondary retailers: 1,200,000 GJ in 2015, 1,700,000 GJ in 2016, and 2,300,000 GJ in 2016. Primary retailers must achieve the following amounts of the…

                Greenlight Australia

…2012. In 2005, Australian governments and the Australian lighting industry committed to a target of reducing the energy consumption of lighting by 20% by 2015. Greenlight Australia provided a framework for reducing energy consumption from Australian lighting over the ten-year period. Greenlight Australia covered the major lighting technologies with the exception of low pressure sodium and induction lighting. Given the size of the Australian lamp market, the plan did not consider options which relied on driving new development in lamp technology and focused instead on lamp substitution and technical development of control equipment and luminaires and improved lighting design…

South Australia's Solar Feed-in Scheme pays a net feed-in tariff to eligible small customers consuming less than 160 MWh of electricity per annum and who feed solar electricity into the electricity grid. Households, small businesses, community buildings and churches with solar PV systems who received permission from SA Power Networks to connect their system to the electricity grid by midnight 30 September 2011 may be eligible for a solar feed-in scheme tariff in addition to retailer feed-in tariff. 44 cents per kWh exported to the grid until 30 June 2028.

Future Made in Australia - Renewable Energy Superpower (Solar Sunshot Program)

As part of the Future Made in Australia plan, the Australian government announced AUD 1 billion in funding for creation of the Solar Sunshot programme, which is to be administered by the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA). This programme will provide production incentives and grants for the development of solar manufacturing capacity, with a specific focus on former coal communities. A total of AUD 835.6 million over 10 years, with an additional AUD 200 million between 2034 and 2036, was allocated to the Solar Sunshot programme in the 2024-2025 budget.
