Legal act on the emergency plan for natural gas supply
This Legal Act enables suppliers must implement measures, secure gas from alternative sources or storage, and utilize available transmission routes. System operators will cut supply to customers with interruptible contracts, as notified by suppliers. Consumers shall be informed of the potential need to switch to alternative energy sources if the crisis escalates.

(Maryland) Control of Methane Emissions from the Natural Gas Industry
…events, affected facilities must make information publicly available in accordance with the facility’s approved blowdown notification plan. This information must be made publicly available 7 days prior to the blowdown event and an explanation of the reason of the blowdown shall be provided to the Department (Regulation.07 (B)(3) and (4)). The regulation also requires all natural gas facilities to report greenhouse gas emissions data to the Department, regardless of the emissions threshold under the federal Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program (GHGRP). Emissions are to be calculated according to the procedures applicable to the GHGRP (Regulation.07 (B)(7)).

Hydrogen is expected to be covered under the China Certified Emissions Reduction (CCER) mechanism (for the voluntary carbon market) that was restarted in 2024 after a 6-year pause. Methodologies for CCER issuance have been published for other clean technologies and it is anticipated that a methodology for hydrogen will be released in 2024

The tenders are issued for two categories: clean (under the Clean Hydrogen Portfolio Standard) and general. Clean: began in 2024. Only clean hydrogen with certified or projected total emissions under 4kgCO2/kgH2 (well-to-gate) is eligible. Total of 3.0TWh/yr (15-year contracts) could be awarded in 2025. General: began in 2023. All kinds of hydrogen are eligible, including fuel cells with reformers which run on natural gas. Total of 1.3TWh/yr (20-year contracts) could be awarded in 2025.
