China - Australia Free Trade Agreement (ChAFTA)
The China-Australia Free Trade Agreement (ChAFTA) came into effect in December 2015. Goods subject to tariff reductions or exemptions mainly include textiles and leather, electronic and mechanical products, other manufactured products, steel and metals, and chemical products. For Chinese goods exported into Australia side:Tariff for Motor cars and other motor vehicles, principally designed for the transport of persons, has been decreased from 5% to 0%. Tariff for Photosensitive semiconductor devices remains 0%. Tariff for heat pumps other than air conditioning machines falling under HS code of heading 8415 has been decreased from 5% to 0%. Germany-Australia hydrogen supply chain projects
…strengthen cooperation on the development of hydrogen technology is underway between Australia and Germany. The Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) and German Federal Ministry of Education and Research will commit respectively AUD 50 million (from the AUD 565.8 million provided in the 2021-2022 Budget initiative for low emissions technology partnerships) and EUR 50 million to fund HyGATE, a new joint Hydrogen Innovation and Technology Incubator. Powering Australia - Energy Efficiency Grants for Small and Medium-sized Businesses
In its October's 2022-23 budget, the federal government allocated AUD 62.6 million for small and medium-sized businesses, in order to reduce their energy use and lower energy bills.Grants ranged between $10,000 and $25,000, and targeted all industry sectors for the implementation of measures such as energy use monitoring, upgrading, or replacing existing air conditioners or gas heating boilers with more efficient technologies (e.g. heat pumps).

(Western Australia) Royalty relief for nickel
In response to challenging conditions in the global market, the Western Australian government is offering royalty relief to the state's nickel industry in the form of an 18-month Nickel Financial Assistance Program beginning in March 2024. Producers may benefit from a 50% royalty rebate, repayable over a 24 month period, for quarters in which prices are below 20,000 USD per tonne. The Program aims to support local jobs and advance the State's vision of becoming a global battery minerals processing hub.
