Government Vehicle Procurement Directives
…all vehicles procured by state authorities must be classified as environmentally friendly, i.e. include those powered by electricity, biogas or ethanol (E85).Since 2006, gasoline and diesel cars with less than 120gCO2/km of emissions are also classified as environmentally friendly. As of February 2009, the previous measure was superseded by a new Ordinance (SFS 2009:1) on environmental and traffic safety requirements for government vehicles and trips. The new ordinance included procurement requirements for light trucks, limiting procurement to those emitting less than 230gCO2/km. The new regulations also stated that at least 50% of emergency vehicles must…

The Electricity Law
The Electricity Law regulates electricity system and industry in Bolivia. The Decree 2048 amending the Law in 2014 established the feed-in tariff support mechanism for renewable energy power producers. The tariff will be paid out by the Ministry of Hydrocarbon and Energy and it is expected to be set in at the nodal level in 2015.
Before the amendment, the Law was providing remuneration to hydropower and thermoelectric producers running on gas and diesel at subsidized price levels which made renewable energy unattractive. -

Development of Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency and Electrification
…being implemented by the Inter-American Developemtn Bank (IDB) and it seeks to promote the use and development of renewable enrgy and energy efficiency in Suriname. Renewable energy is an important element of Suriname's strategy for 2020 as renewable energy can be crucial in providing a solution for electrification of the interior, where about 15% of the population has no access to electricity and and the rest is supplied by diesel generation. The project also assesses the feasability of energy efficient solutions and support policies and regulations to promote the use of renewable and energy efficient measures in Suriname.

The fund allows to finance the extra costs that will be incurred by PETROPAR in the production of biodiesel. Essentially, the fund supports the purchase of biodiesel at the reference prices established by Art 36 of Decree 10.703.The fund is financed by a levy of 4py/litre (.01USD/litre) on sales of diesel by PETROPAR. Additionally, it obtained all the proceeds from the decree 5984/99 since the month of October in 2011 up to the effective day of this decree. -

Long-term goal and strategy of Japan's automotive industry for tackling global climate change
…2018, the Strategic Commission for the New Era of Automobiles released an interim report setting long-term goals toward 2050, including 80% reduction of greenhouse gas emissions per vehicle (90% in case of passenger vehicles) through technological developments, the promotion of connectivity and optimisation of car use. Ultimately, Japan aims to achieve well-to-wheel zero emission society by the end of 2015.
The interim report also stipulates 2030 targets regarding the diffusion rate of next generation automobiles:
- Hybrid vehicles: 30-40%
- Battery electric vehicles/plug-in hybrid vehicles: 20-30%
- Fuel-cell electric vehicles: 3%
- Clean diesel 5-10% -

National Sustainable Mobility Policy
…The policy originally aimed to deliver at least 500,000 additional daily active travel and public transport journeys by 2030 and a 10% reduction in the number of kilometres driven by fossil fuelled cars. These targets were subsequently updated in the Climate Action Plan 2023 to a 50% increase in daily active travel journeys, a 130% increase in daily public transport journeys, and a 20% reduction in total vehicle kilometres travelled by 2030. The policy will make it easier for people to choose walking, cycling and use public transport daily instead of having to use a petrol or diesel car.

EU Climate and Energy Package: Quality standards for fuels and biofuels
…for fuel. This aims to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, facilitate the more widespread blending of biofuels into petrol and diesel and set sustainability criteria for biofuels. The revised directive introduces for the first time a reduction target for greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from fuels. By 2020, fuel suppliers have to decrease by 6% climate harming emissions over the entire life-cycle of their products. This can be reached in particular by admixing biofuels to petrol and diesel as well as by improving production technology in refineries. Member states may require an additional 4% reduction from fuel companies, achieved through…

ecoAgriculture Biofuels Capital Initiative
…transportation biofuel production facilities. Funding is conditional upon agricultural producer investment in the biofuel projects, and the use of agricultural feedstock to produce the biofuel. The ecoABC Initiative is delivered nationally by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. It is designed to provide an opportunity for agricultural producers to diversify their economic base and participate in the biofuels industry through equity investment/ownership in biofuels production facilities. As well, ecoABC will help achieve the federal governments goal of reaching an average of 5% renewable content in gasoline by 2010, and 2% renewable content in diesel fuel and heating oil by 2012.
