(Australian Capital Territory) Climate Change and Greenhouse Gas Reduction Act 2010
Establishes a target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) to achieve zero net emissions by 30 June 2045. Greenhouse gas emissions are defined to include carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, HFCs, and others. The law also sets an interim target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions to 40% less than 1990 emissions by 30 June 2020, and sets a goal of using 100% renewable electricity by 2020. Australian Technology Investment Roadmap
The Australian Government developed a national Technology Investment Roadmap. The roadmap will help prioritise Australian investments in new and developing low emissions technologies and allow the government to work towards clear priorities over the short, medium and long term. It will provide a framework for setting economic stretch goals for priority technologies. Australian Climate Solutions Package - Energy Efficiency
As part of the Australian AUD 3.5 billion Climate Solution Package: - AUD 21.4 million has been provided for measures in building energy efficiency which will support the HomeBuilder program by providing information and upskilling training to enable industry to support industry to deliver low and zero energy homes and commercial buildings. Australian CEFC investment in 300MW big battery in Victoria
On 25 February 2021, the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC) announced that on behalf of the Australian Government they have invested AUD160 million to build the Neoen 300 MW Victorian Big Battery (VBB), providing a critical boost to the state’s grid security while driving down power prices and supporting more renewable energy. The VBB will be one of the world's largest energy storage facilities, and the CEFC senior debt facility will be used to fund its design, construction, and operation. Australian government support for solar hydro power plant in Mildura
The Australian government, through the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) and its Advancing Renewables Program, is providing AUD 15 million to a concentrated solar project with thermal hydro storage. The flagship project has a 4 MW solar capacity and 3 MW / 50 MWh storage capacity. The manufacturing facility will also be expanded to allow for future project deployment.

In 2013, the government of the Australian Captial Territory introduced an energy efficiency obligation for the residential sector and small-to-medium enterprises. Obligated parties include Tier 1 electricity and gas retailers with more than 5 000 customers and 500 000 MWh annual sales; Tier 2 electricity and gas retailers that do not meet the thresholds for Tier 1.
