Electricity 2026: Can the electricity sector ‘move fast and connect things?’
Background information Electricity 2026 – the IEA’s annual report on global electricity systems and markets – provides in-depth analysis of the recent trends and policy developments underpinning the Age of Electricity. It includes forecasts through 2030 for electricity demand, supply and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions for select countries, by region and worldwide. As electricity use grows, power systems will need greater flexibility to securely and cost-effectively integrate an increasingly diverse mix of electricity generation sources and evolving demand patterns and technologies. A lack of grid capacity is also becoming a major bottleneck for electricity systems in many regions, leading…

National Energy Efficiency Action Plan 2016-2018
Based on the National Energy Efficiency Programme for 2011 to 2020, the National Action Plan for Energy Efficiency (NEEAP) for 2016 to 2018 confirms the general commitments of Moldova. This is the second NEEAP of Moldova and it should be followed by NEEAPs for 2019 to 2021. The scope of this plan refers exclusively to achieving efficient energy consumption and to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The second NEEAP of Moldova requires revision of targets set by NEEP 2011-2020 and NEEAP 2013-2015. The indicative 2020 target for final energy saving has been proposed in the NEEAP 2016-2020 basing…

Methane Tracker Database and Methane Abatement Model
Database of country and regional estimates for methane emissions and methane abatement potential and the associated cost of abatement by country, segment and reduction technology. This database presents the IEA’s country-by-country estimates of energy-related methane emissions. For coal supply and the oil and gas sector, we present detailed estimates for the abatement potential – and costs or savings – from different technology and policy options. The interactive version of the Methane Tracker Database also includes detailed policy information and comparisons with other sources of methane emissions estimates. The IEA Methane Abatement model is a tool that allows users to estimate…
