Tax breaks for phasing out oil heating
The Government increased tax credit for household expenses for giving up oil heating in 2025. The deduction is 60% of the share of work and a maximum of EUR 3,500 per year. The increased deduction will remain in force until 2027.

Royal decree on energy efficiency and emissions of solid fuels heating appliances
The first goal of this regulation is to set gradually more stringent emission standards for particles induced by solid fuels combustion in heating appliances. The second goal is to set more stringent efficiency levels and carbon monoxide emission standards for the same appliances.These emission standards are specific for each type of appliances: stove, solid fuel burner with a glass door, household appliance with slow heat release, wood pellet stove, boiler-stove, boiler, open fire. CHP Deployment Programme
In the 2006 Budget presented to the Dail in December 2005, the Minister of Finance announced the allocation of Eur 65 million over the period 2006 to 2010 to "launch several innovative grant schemes relating to biofuels, combined heat and power, biomass commercial heaters and domestic renewable heat grants". Heat price cap for households
The Government issued a decree capping the increase of heat prices for households to EUR 20/MWh without VAT and to a maximum amount of EUR 199/MWh. The Government allocated EUR 394.8 million to compensate heat distributors for the related loss of revenues.
