The programme is structured around three key pillars: directly supporting national transitions; strengthening multilateral co‑ordination; and delivering global analysis to inform policy dialogue. With significant milestones achieved in 2024, the CETP has supported over 320 high‑level meetings with policy makers, conducted 735 workshops and technical exchanges with over 12 000 participants, produced or enhanced over 200 reports, policy briefs and data products, and delivered 42 training events to almost 1 200 policy professionals. In Africa, the IEA helped secure USD 2.2 billion in funding through a landmark summit on access to clean cooking, while in Asia…

                Energy Management for Industry

Driving efficiency implementation This report demonstrates the value of energy management for industry and governments. It illustrates how more systematic approaches to energy efficiency can contribute to ensure continual, durable, and increasing improvements that support competitiveness and energy security. It shows how new advances in energy management, such as increased digitalisation and artificial intelligence, can provide further benefits at speed and at scale. Building on best practices and innovative approaches, the report provides policy guidance on effective policy packages, giving insights into possible actions for policy makers irrespective of the maturity of existing programmes.

…the importance of the IEA’s partnership with the eleven countries that make up the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) – Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR), Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste (joined ASEAN in 2025) and Viet Nam.As energy security concerns move ever higher on the policy agenda, this year’s report explores the trajectory that the region was on prior to the conflict in the Middle East, and discusses the potential implications of the energy crisis triggered by this conflict for policy priorities and investment strategies in the region.

Responding to Satellite Notifications from the Methane Alert and Response System

…to get in touch with IMEO and the IEA. Executive summary In 2023, the United Nations Environment Programme’s (UNEP) International Methane Emissions Observatory (IMEO) introduced the Methane Alert and Response System (MARS), which uses satellite data (coupled with scientific expertise and artificial intelligence) to provide free notifications of large methane emission events to governments and companies.MARS satellite alerts provide rapid and actionable information that can enable quick mitigation action. Swift action on major leaks or releases detected via MARS can deliver significant benefits for governments, potentially reducing gas waste, boosting sales by domestic companies and improving national energy…

Critical Mineral Traceability for Energy and Economic Security

Amid rising risks linked to the high concentration of critical mineral supply chains, the ability to track where minerals originate, how they move through supply chains, who has custody of them and how they are transformed is increasingly important for policymakers seeking to create diversified and responsible supply chains. This report provides insights from a first-of-its kind survey on traceability conducted by the IEA and OECD. More than 80 respondent companies active across supply chains of the six focus minerals (copper, lithium, nickel, cobalt, graphite and rare earth elements) provided results between October and December 2025. Drawing on…

                Gas Market Report, Q2-2025

Global natural gas demand continued to expand through the 2024/25 heating season, with growth primarily driven by Europe and North America. Underground storage facilities and reserve mechanisms provided crucial flexibility to the gas system and ensured stable and secure gas supplies over the 2024/25 heating season. In 2025, global gas demand growth is forecast to slow from the previous year amid tighter market conditions, while heightened macroeconomic uncertainties may also weigh on demand.Low gas storage levels and reduced piped gas exports from Russia to the European Union are expected to keep market fundamentals tight. Supported by higher…

                Gas 2025

Analysis and forecasts to 2030 Global gas markets are set to undergo major changes by the end of the decade, with the coming wave of liquefied natural gas (LNG) production capacity set to profoundly transform market dynamics. The unprecedented scaling up of LNG supply is expected to improve gas supply security and make natural gas more affordable – including in emerging, price-sensitive import markets. However, to account for these shifts, LNG producers and suppliers may need to adapt their medium-term strategies. The Gas 2025 medium-term report from the International Energy Agency (IEA) examines this coming transformation and its…

Pathways to secure and diversified supply chains The critical role of rare earth elements in strategic applications, ranging from energy technologies and advanced electronics to aerospace and defence systems, combined with their highly concentrated supply chains, has elevated their importance in both energy and broader economic security discussions in recent years. This report assesses the current state of the rare earth elements market, examining demand and supply dynamics and key technological developments. It analyses the full value chain from mining to permanent magnet production, evaluates vulnerabilities across supply chains, and highlights the implications of potential supply disruptions. …require a significant step‑change in investment over the coming 15 years, and unlocking financing from a diverse range of sources will be essential for this to happen. Yet financing approaches and business models have not evolved at the pace required to support an increasingly ambitious and complex pipeline of interconnector projects. This report examines how interconnectors are approached today from the financing and business model perspective. It explores how, in combination with broad macro‑financial and market‑specific factors, current approaches may create challenges given the size and characteristics of the APG project pipeline. Rather than focussing on institutions or regulatory frameworks…
