The Energy Efficiency in Public Buildings Programme was established to help develop energy efficiency projects in public buildings. The energy efficiency measures could include improvement and control of operational processes, replacement of appliances and equipment with high efficiency ones, amongst others. Denmark plans to build two world-first "energy islands" with a minimum capacity of 4 GW to convert low-carbon electricity into green hydrogen and synthetic fuels, supporting its 2050 carbon neutrality goal. One of the islands, located in the North Sea, will be co-owned by the government and private partners, with strategic collaborations involving Germany, Belgium, and Luxembourg. A 3 GW offshore wind island near Jutland, expandable to 10 GW, has also been approved with a total investment of DKK 210 billion (€28 billion).
