Global Hydrogen Review 2026
Add to calendar
Background information
The conflict in the Middle East is impacting global supplies of hydrogen and hydrogen derivatives such as fertilisers. Given these circumstances, low-emissions hydrogen and hydrogen-based fuels – which can be produced domestically and help diversify energy supply – are gaining more attention.
The sixth edition of the Global Hydrogen Review takes stock of the sector, with a focus on progress to date in adopting low-emissions hydrogen and its derivatives. It also explores the challenges ahead at a moment of growing energy sector uncertainty. This year’s report includes new analysis on the cost that users of low-emissions hydrogen and hydrogen-based products will accept in different applications, as well as a special chapter on Africa, which explores the opportunities that hydrogen can offer that align with government priorities, such as economic growth, industrial development and access to energy.
The report will be complemented by updates to the Hydrogen Production and Infrastructure Projects Database and the IEA’s Hydrogen Tracker.
