G20 Energy Ministerial Event on Clean Cooking

Event — Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil

Background information

Brazil’s G20 Presidency will hold a high-level event on expanding clean cooking during the meeting of G20 energy ministers in Foz do Iguaçu. During this event, ministers will discuss the strategic roadmap for achieving universal access to clean cooking that has been prepared by the International Energy Agency (IEA), Sustainable Energy for All (SEforAll) and the World Bank at Brazil’s request.

Participants are expected to discuss how the G20 Clean Cooking Roadmap’s key milestones can be achieved, with a focus on enhancing financing and funding for clean cooking, deepening the clean cooking market and industry development, bridging the knowledge gap, and strengthening the enabling environment for clean cooking deployment. They will also explore additional opportunities for international cooperation in the run-up to the G20 Leaders’ Summit in Rio de Janeiro, COP29 in Baku and COP30 in Belém. Additionally, the event will serve as a platform for governments to make new clean cooking commitments.
