IEA Energy Innovation Forum 2027

The fourth edition of this invitation-only event will be co-hosted by the Government of Austria and the International Energy Agency (IEA) with the theme of “Technologies for energy security and competitiveness.”
Recent energy disruptions have reinforced the importance of innovation in strengthening energy security and economic competitiveness. The Forum will bring together ministers, senior government officials, corporate leaders, investors, innovators and researchers to discuss how technology, policy and international collaboration can help build more resilient energy systems and accelerate progress in areas such as electrification, energy efficiency, networks and domestic energy resources.
Building on the success of previous editions, the Forum will provide a unique platform for high-level dialogue, partnership building and knowledge exchange across the global energy innovation community. Additional workshops, networking activities and site visits are anticipated on 5 and 7 April 2027, with further details to be announced in the coming months.

The Energy Innovation Forum will have side events and visits on 5 and 7 April. Further information on the programme, participating organisations and registration arrangements will be shared in due course.
To ensure that participants' time in Vienna is as productive as possible, the Energy Innovation Forum will be complemented by side events and site visits on 5 and 7 April 2027. These will provide additional opportunities for participants to discuss the Forum's topics in more detail, learn what is happening on the ground, and identify opportunities for action. These activities will be independently organised and hosted by partner organisations and institutions outside the official agenda. Planned themes include clean energy innovation ecosystems, grid modernisation, corporate venturing and startup collaboration, as well as visits to leading research institutions, companies and energy infrastructure sites. Further information on the programme, participating organisations and registration arrangements will be shared in due course.
