COP30-IEA High-Level Energy Transition Dialogue

Event — New York, United States

Background information

The COP30 Presidency and the IEA – in close partnership with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Secretariat and the UN Secretary General's Climate Action Team – are convening a series of High-Level Energy Transition Dialogues ahead of COP30 in Belém, Brazil, in November.

The dialogues bring together energy and climate decision makers from around the world to help shape the energy-related activities, outputs and outcomes of COP30.

This third dialogue will take place in New York during the United Nations General Assembly. Co-chaired by IEA Executive Director Fatih Birol, COP30 President-Designate André Corrêa do Lago and Special Adviser to the UN Secretary-General on Climate Action and Just Transition Selwin Hart, it will also form part of the UN Secretary-General's "solutions dialogues" for accelerating clean energy transitions. Discussions, which will focus on key energy sector priorities set by Brazil's COP30 Presidency, will feed directly into the UN Secretary-General’s Special High-Level Event on Climate Action later that day.
