Recognized certification schemes from RFNBO
Voluntary and national certification schemes ensure compliance with EU sustainability rules for biofuels, bioliquids, biomass fuels, and renewable hydrogen (RFNBOs). The European Commission adopted delegated acts on renewable electricity sourcing and emission savings methodology.
By May 2025, three voluntary schemes were approved: CertifHy, RedCert, and ISCC EU.
In April 2025, ISCC EU was used by DEKRA to certify:
Trailblazer project (Air Liquide, Germany)
Synthetic methanol plant (Kasso, Denmark)

Energy Island funding
Denmark plans to build two world-first "energy islands" with a minimum capacity of 4 GW to convert low-carbon electricity into green hydrogen and synthetic fuels, supporting its 2050 carbon neutrality goal. One of the islands, located in the North Sea, will be co-owned by the government and private partners, with strategic collaborations involving Germany, Belgium, and Luxembourg. A 3 GW offshore wind island near Jutland, expandable to 10 GW, has also been approved with a total investment of DKK 210 billion (€28 billion).

Export credit agency backing sustainable infrastructure in the Indo-Pacific and critical minerals projects
Australia’s Export Credit Agency (Export Finance Australia) is mandated to provide financing to support sustainable infrastructure projects in the Indo-Pacific region across a range of sectors, including energy, electrification, and transportation. The agency is also tasked with supporting critical minerals projects and related infrastructure.
In 2024, the agency announced USD 533 million in debt financing to Arafura for a first-of-a-kind rare earths processing facility in Australia, and this helped unlock direct lending and untied loan guarantees from export credit agencies in Canada, Germany and Korea. -
