National Electric Mobility Mission Plan 2020
The Department of Heavy Industry published in 2012 the "National Electric Mobility Mission Plan" (NEMMP) 2020 which aims at promoting hybrid and electric vehicles. It sets out the target to achieve 6-7 million sales of hybrid and electric vehicles year on year from 2020 onwards by providing fiscal incentives. The main policy to achieve targets set out in the NEMMP is the "Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid &) Electric Vehicles" (FAME) scheme.

National Urban Mobility Policy (Law 12.587)
The aim of the National Policy of Urban Mobility is to develop the urban transportation network in Brazil and to improve its accessibility in order to foster urban mobility. The law 12.587 establishes the guidelines of the Urban Mobility Policy encourages the use of public transportation and non-motorized modes, as well as the comprehensive integration of urban transportation services. Likewise, it mandates the creation of Urban Mobility Plans for cities with a population of more than 20,000 people.
