                Russia Energy Survey

…of the Russian Federation’s role as a key oil and gas exporter, the Russian energy sector is of key importance to the country’s economic success, as well as to world energy markets. Reforms are essential to enable Russia’s energy sector to keep pace with domestic energy demand growth in a period of strong GDP growth, while yet seizing export opportunities. Success will depend upon the creation of a stable and competitive investment environment, energy price reform, corporate transparency, dramatic improvement in energy efficiency and proper safeguards against the adverse environmental impacts from increased energy production and use.

Oil Market Report - August 2018

…oil market – including detailed statistics and commentary on oil supply, demand, inventories, prices and refining activity, as well as oil trade for IEA and selected non-IEA countries. Highlights Following strong demand growth in 1Q18, in 2Q18 and 3Q18 the pace has slowed dramatically to a relatively subdued 1 mb/d. In 4Q18 we expect a rebound and demand will be 100.2 mb/d.For 2018, our global demand growth outlook is unchanged at 1.4 mb/d. In 2019 growth accelerates slightly to 1.5 mb/d, but there are risks to the forecast from escalating trade disputes and rising prices if supply is constrained.Global…

                Energy Technology Perspectives 2012

…Perspectives 2012 Energy Technology Perspectives (ETP) is the IEA’s most ambitious publication on new developments in energy technology. It demonstrates how technologies – from electric vehicles to smart grids – can make a decisive difference in achieving the objective of limiting the global temperature rise to 2°C and enhancing energy security. ETP 2012 presents detailed scenarios for nine world regions and strategies to 2050 with the aim of guiding decision makers on energy trends and what needs to be done to build a clean, secure and competitive energy future. ETP 2012 addresses current progress on clean energy deployment; how energy security…

                Energy Technology Perspectives 2014

Starting from the premise that electricity will be an increasingly important vector in energy systems of the future, Energy Technology Perspectives 2014 (ETP 2014) takes a deep dive into actions needed to support deployment of sustainable options for generation, distribution and consumption. In addition to modelling the global outlook to 2050 under different scenarios for more than 500 technology options, ETP 2014 explores the possibility of “pushing the limits” in six key areas: solar power; natural gas in low-carbon electricity systems; electrifying transport and whether e-mobility can replace oil; electricity storage; attracting finance for low-carbon generation; and…

…energy future. The IEA analysis demonstrates that a more sustainable energy future is within our reach, and that technology is the key. Increased energy efficiency, CO2 capture and storage, renewables, and nuclear power will all be important. We must act now if we are to unlock the potential of current and emerging technologies and reduce the dependency on fossil fuels with its consequent effects on energy security and the environment. This innovative work demonstrates how energy technologies can make a difference in an ambitious series of global scenarios to 2050. The study contains technology road maps for all key energy…

Energy Policies of IEA Countries: United States 2007

Energy Policy Review Energy Policies of IEA Countries: United States 2007 The United States is the largest economy and energy user in the world. Significant developments have taken place in its energy policy since the last IEA review in 2002. Most important is the Energy Policy Act 2005 – a comprehensive energy legislation which has set new directions, including opening the way for a nuclear renaissance. Two closely connected challenges shape all debates on the nation’s energy policy path: how to increase security by reducing the dependence on imported supplies; and how to address growing emissions of greenhouse gases. The…

…substantial contribution to economic activity and competitiveness. Conversely, the expansion in energy production is also raising unease on environmental and safety grounds, concerns which must be addressed appropriately. The US natural gas boom has resulted in stable wholesale electricity prices, lower greenhouse gas emissions and greater system flexibility. The electricity system, however, is in need of significant investment if the country is to meet demand growth forecasts and strengthen its resilience to climate change. Renewable energy production is growing but the durability of federal tax incentives remains a persistent uncertainty. At the policy level, a number of strategic initiatives have…

Renewable Energy : Market and Policy Trends in IEA Countries

Market and Policy Trends in IEA Countries Renewable Energy A review of the experience of IEA countries after the oil crises in the 1970s, which initiated a surge of investments in renewables research and development. While use of renewables has grown rapidly, they still account for only a small portion of the IEA energy mix. This work examines policies and measures that have been introduced in IEA countries to increase the cost effective deployment of renewables, reviews the objectives behind these policies, and evaluates the results.
