                Reduced VAT for energy-saving materials

In 1998 the UK Government introduced a reduced value-added tax (VAT) rate of 5% (down from 17.5%) for the grant-funded installation of certain energy-saving materials (ESMs) in the homes of elderly, less well off and vulnerable households. This reduced VAT rate applied to all insulation, draught stripping, hot water, and central heating controls. In Budget 2000, the Government extended this scheme to all households, even if the service is not grant funded. Budget 2000 and 2002 also introduced further reduced VAT rates for ESMs when they are part of grant-funded installations into vulnerable households  including…

Subsidy scheme for energy saving measures and renewable energy in sporting accommodations

A subsidy scheme for energy measures (energy saving and renewable energy) for sports facilities, accommodation of sport clubs. This scheme was based on one of the agreements under the Agreement on Energy for Sustainable Growth form 2013. The scheme is planned for the period 2016-2020. In 2016 the budget is € 6 million. Sports associations that invest in renewable energy generation and energy saving can obtain a subsidy for up to 30% of their investment costs. As of 2019 the scheme ceased to exist as separate scheme and has been integrated in a more broad (not energy only) subsidy…

My Agenda 21: The Energy-Saving Booklet (Information to Drivers)

In 1997, the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety published a brochure entitled "My Agenda 21: The Energy-Saving Booklet as your contribution to climate protection", which incorporated a chapter on mobility. The aim of the chapter was to make drivers more aware of fuel-saving driving habits, to encourage them to use public transport and, in general, to foster greater environmental awareness on the part of automobile users. The Climate Protection Programme subsequently launched broadly structured information campaigns on good driving habits, with the participation of the automotive industry and the associations from the automotive…

Investment Subsidy for Sustainable Energy and Energy Saving (ISDE)

The ISDE (Investment Subsidy for Sustainable Energy and Energy Saving) is a national subsidy programme providing grants for energy efficiency and renewable energy measures in buildings, including insulation, heat pumps, solar thermal systems and heat network connections. The scheme operates through annual funding rounds and is planned to run until 2030. In 2022, the budget was increased by €62 million to €290 million due to high demand, with an additional €30 million allocated for small-scale wind and solar PV. More recent rounds continue with higher annual budgets, including around €600 million for households in 2025.
