                Energy Saving Opportunities Scheme (ESOS)

Government established ESOS to implement Article 8 (4 to 6) of the EU Energy Efficiency Directive (2012/27/EU). The ESOS Regulations 2014 give effect to the scheme. ESOS is a mandatory energy assessment scheme for organisations in the UK that meet the qualification criteria. The Environment Agency is the UK scheme administrator. Organisations that qualify for ESOS must carry out ESOS assessments every 4 years. These assessments are audits of the energy used by their buildings, industrial processes and transport to identify cost-effective energy saving measures.

                Energy saving guidelines

The energy saving guidelines drawn up by the federal government and the federal states for areas of application such as buildings, energy efficiency, energy management, mobility, procurement and financing are aimed at private households, private enterprise and the public sector. The guidelines are designed to motivate the respectivetarget group and provide information about how to increase energy efficiency. The guidelines thus contribute to creating awareness and changing user behaviour and act as a springboard for energy efficiency investments. The information on energy-efficient technologies, financing and procurement options together with special subject areas and pragmatic approaches to finding ways of…

Energy Saving Ordinance - Building Code

The Energy Conservation Ordinance sets standards for the energy efficiency of new buildings as well as for the renovation of existing buildings. It establishes requirements for insulation, building materials, heating systems, ventilation, and other aspects related to energy consumption. The building code was last amended in December 2023 to raise the ambition level for the energy efficiency of new buildings.

Energy saving and new energy automotive industry development plan 2012-2020

The major objective of the Plan is to speed up the cultivation and development of the automotive industry that produces energy efficient vehicles that run on "new energy €. This will improve energy demand management, promote transformation and upgrade of the industry, foster new economic growth and support preservation of natural environment. Full transition to pure electric vehicles will be achieved by promotion campaigns of such automobiles, popularization of non-plug-in hybrid vehicles and energy-saving internal combustion engine vehicles. It is estimated that by 2015 total production and sales of pure electric cars and plug-in hybrid vehicles…

…receive an additional subsidy for further energy saving measures, such as insulating doors or customised recommendations.

The measures and associated requirements largely correspond to the measures and requirements for the National Energy-saving Fund (National Energiebespaarfonds (NEF)) This means that the subsidy and loan can be combined to cover the entire investment.

Owner-occupants and owners’ associations that implement an extremely energy efficient package of measures receive a bonus over and above the subsidy of €4 000 per home. As a rule, such a package is considered to be renovating a home, for example, so that it becomes zero-energy…

Energy-saving investment credit (EIA): Tax Reduction for Investments in Energy Saving Equipment and Sustainable Energy

The tax scheme known as EIA (Energy-saving investment credit) aims to save the use of fossil energy by stimulating investment in energy efficient assets and renewable energy technologies. An investment in an asset is eligible for EIA when it is more energy efficient than the standard equipment used and it therefore meets the generic efficiency criteria of EIA. Companies can deduct from the taxable profit 41,5% of investments in equipment related to energy conservation and renewable energy. At a taxation level of 25% for Dutch businesses, the EIA amounts to a net discount of approximately 10% of the…

…housing organisations and private investors organisation to improve energy efficiency of a specified share of their residential housing (rental) by 2020 up to at least specified levels of the energy label system (shares and levels differ per sector). In the energy saving agreement for the rental sector concluded on 28 June 2012, targets were set out for both the social rental sector (housing associations) and the private rental sector. For the social rental sector (around 2.4 million homes) this means energy consumption at the level of label B on average, or an energy index of 1.25 in 2020…
