                Value Added Tax (modification) Order

                The Value Added Tax (Modification) Order 2024 expanded Nigeria’s list of VAT-exempt goods and services to support energy transition technologies. The order exempts electric vehicles, CNG and LPG vehicles, conversion kits, and components for renewable energy technologies such as solar PV and batteries from VAT. The measure aims to reduce the cost of clean energy equipment and alternative-fuel vehicles.

                Social Climate Fund - Social Leasing

                Through the Social Climate Fund, the government instated a social leasing worth EUR 174 million for vulnerable households to lease electric cars at a low rent. It also includes the acquisition of commercial electric vehicles, through leasing or purchase, by very small businesses, with a budget envelop of EUR 289 million.

                The Tax Benefits Code consolidates the regulation of tax benefits applicable in the Angolan legal-tax system. Electric vehicles benefit from a 50% reduction in Customs Duties on import and a 50% reduction in Motor Vehicle Tax until 2032.
