UNPLUGGED project
UNPLUGGED project aims to investigate how the use of inductive charging of Electric Vehicles (EV) in urban environments improves the convenience and sustainability of car-based mobility. In particular, it will be investigated how smart inductive charging infrastructure can facilitate full EV integration in the urban road systems while improving customer acceptance and perceived practicality. UNPLUGGED will achieve these goals by examining in detail the technical feasibility, practical issues, interoperability, user perception and socio-economic impacts of inductive charging. As one special variant, inductive en-route charging will be investigated thoroughly.

Greening NEAR - Greening Northern European Road Corridors
This project will carry out feasibility studies on consumer preferences and user acceptance of electric vehicles and the related charging infrastructure, as well as the supporting consumer services. It will also make a pilot deployment of fast charging stations along highways in southern Sweden (E20, E6 and E22), Denmark (E20, E45 and E55) and northern Germany (E45 and E22). Multi-standard quick charger requirements have been established and validated, and the first 13 (thirteen) charging stations are fully operational and open to the users in Denmark (E45) and Sweden (E20). Several study activities on consumers, key selling points, network planning…

Standard Fuel Consumption Tax (NoVA)
…when a vehicle is registered for the first time in Austria, in form of a percentage rate of the vehicle price. As the tax burden is progressively linked to fuel consumption and CO2-emissions of the vehicle, NoVA is an incentive to buy more efficient cars regardless of the expected mileage. NoVA has to be paid for passenger cars, station wagon, small buses, vans, recreational vehicles, motorcycles and special-purpose vehicles such as Quads (four-wheeled motorcycles). Vehicles for special purposes such as driving school vehicles, taxis, rental cars and ambulance and fire brigade vehicles, as well as electric vehicles …

AJAC Eco Run Challenge
The federal government also operates several outreach and education programmes related to electric
vehicles.31 For example, since 2012 NRCan has participated in the AJAC Eco Run Challenge, which
demonstrates a broad spectrum of fuel-efficient vehicle choices, including HEVs, PEVs and cars using
advanced conventional technologies.32 During the annual International Auto Show in Toronto, Ontario, it
provides information to visitors and answers questions about fuel consumption values reporting for all
types of vehicles. NRCan also presents the annual Most Fuel Efficient Vehicle Awards to showcase the
most fuel-efficient vehicle in each class.3
