                Viet Nam-Cuba Free Trade Agreement

                The Viet Nam-Cuba Free Trade Agreement entered into force in April 2020. It provides for the gradual elimination of import tariffs over five years, notably for :OresMineral fuelsMineral oilsCoalIron and steelNickelAluminium products.To qualify for preferential tariff treatment, products should be:  wholly obtained or produced in one of the signatory countries, or entirely from materials originating from them.incorporating non-originating materials which value does not exceed 10% of the FOB value of the final products.

                The Free Trade Agreement between Viet Nam and the European Union entered into force in August 2020. It provides for the elimination of border tariffs on most goods exchanged between the Parties, including:Mineral oils and fuelsRare earths metalOres and their concentrate (iron, copper, nickel, aluminium, zin, and tin)Road vehiclesRules of origin delineated in the Agreement state that products wholly obtained or having undergone sufficient processing in one of the Paryies qualify for preferential tariff treatment.

                Viet Nam Action Plan for Methane Emissions Reduction by 2030

                Following its endorsement of the Global Methane Pledge (GMP), Viet Nam submitted its Methane Action Plan 2030 (the "Plan"), which outlines the country's methane reduction strategies. The Plan aims to reduce overall methane emissions in the following sectors: cultivation, animal husbandry, solid waste management, wastewater treatment, oil and gas extraction, coal mining and fossil fuel consumption. The Plan sets specific targets as follows:reduce overall methane emissions by at least 13.34% below 2020 levels by 2025, specifically limiting methane emissions to 42.2 metric tonnes from cultivation, 16.8 metric tonnes from animal husbandry, 21.9 metric tonnes…

                Japan-Viet Nam Economic Partnership Agreement (JVEPA)

                The Japan-Viet Nam Economic Partnership Agreement (JVEPA) entered into force on October 2009. It eliminates borders tariffs for most goods traded between both countries, including : iron, metals, steel, battery packs and cells, anodes, heat pumps, electric cars, and ICE cars. Specific rule of origins delineated in the Agreement state that in order to qualify for preferential tariff treatment, good should be wholly produced, or have undergone a significant production process in one of the signatory countries, or satisfy a 40% minimum local value content requirement.

                Road vehicles - Passenger cars - Limit of fuel consumption and method for evaluation - Draft

                Viet Nam has sent a notification to the WTO indicating that this draft in currently under consultation. The text was proposed to be adopted in June 2025 and to entry into force in August 2025. The draft provides a framework for assessing the average fuel consumption of a vehicle fleet for both manufacturers and importers, including specific calculation methodologies for various vehicle types like internal combustion, hybrid, and electric cars. The standards also detail reporting requirements and procedures for ensuring compliance with these fuel efficiency targets.
