Cantonal Building Refurbishment Programmes
There are 26 cantonal programmes that subsidise private investments in energy savings and renewable energies in the building sector. The cantonal building programmes are financed through a base amount from the national CO2-levy on heating fuels. Every franc from the canton invested in the building programm is further topped up with two francs from the national CO2-levy.

Public Sector Buildings Programme
The Green Paper on Sustainable Energy outlines the need to make significant energy savings in the public sector as part of the wider obligation to reduce Greenhouse Gas emissions. In that context the government decided in July 2001 to require all public sector Departments, agencies, non-commercial state bodies, health boards and local authorities with responsibility for new building construction or major refurbishment to use best practice in both materials and technology and to avail of opportunities being promoted by Sustainable Energy Ireland. In addition, all government departments and state bodies are required to report annually in their Annual Reports…

Building renovation - Non-commercial buildings frequently visited by public - ECB (S007)
Mandatory energy certification under Act No. 555/2005 for non-commercial public buildings frequently visited by the public. Energy savings calculated as the difference between the average energy demand for the original condition (upper limit of energy class D per Decree No. 364/2012) and the energy performance certificate value. Managed by the Ministry of Transport of the Slovak Republic.

ecoENERGY Retrofit - Small and Medium Organizations - Industry
Using energy more efficiently helps industry to become more competitive and reduce greenhouse gases (GHGs) and air pollution, thereby contributing to a cleaner environment for all Canadians. The ecoENERGY Retrofit programme is available to industrial facilities with fewer than 500 employees to help them implement energy saving projects that reduce energy-related greenhouse gases and air pollution, thereby contributing to a cleaner environment for all Canadians. Administered by Natural Resources Canada (NRCan), this programme is part of the ecoENERGY for Industry Initiative, which altogether is expected to achieve energy savings equivalent to the energy used by between 65,000 and…

Third Party Financing
To support energy conservation in industry, and in addition to the IDAE-FEDER Programme, IDAE operates mainly as a third-party financier providing finance and technical assistance for the installation of energy efficient equipment and recovering its expenditure over three to seven years through the energy savings realised. The financing activity of IDAE during the year 2001 was associated with the development of 33 different projects, representing a total investment of € 25.4 million, with the following share among the main technology areas: - Final energy saving and substitution by natural gas: 20%. - Cogeneration: 6%. - Renewable: 74%.

Boiler Services
…The Annual Boiler Awards Competition, organised by Sustainable Energy Ireland was first launched in 1996. From its inception to 2001, it achieved savings of over Eur 20.3 million in some 180 participating companies, primarily by recognising and rewarding innovation and best practice in the operation and implementation of energy efficient boiler technology. The awards were renamed in 2004 to the Sustainable Energy Awards (see separate entry). Ireland now promotes boiler efficiency as part of its implementation of Article 8 of the EPBD Directive and in association with its Home Energy Saving Scheme and Power of One energy efficiency campaign.
