Agricultural and Rural 100% Renewable Energy (RE100) Demonstration Projects
The Korean Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs announced plans for 100% renewable energy (RE 100) demonstration projects for rural communities. The projects will select four rural communities for solar PV installation and energy efficiency upgrades to demonstrate the feasibility of reducing energy costs and meeting energy demand through renewable energy. The projects will be conducted over a two-year period. Participating communities will receive an energy diagnostic of their community energy demands; install renewable energy projects in residential, commercial, and community spaces; and carry out building renovation upgrades aimed at increasing energy efficiency. Measures to Strengthen the Competitiveness of Eco-friendly Vehicles and Secondary Batteries
The Korean government has committed 21 trillion won in 2025 to boost eco-friendly vehicles and batteries. The government invests in the EV and battery industries. Additionally, the programme offers a 20% additional subsidy to individuals aged 19 to 34 buying an electric vehicle as their first car. It also promotes the development of charging infrastructure. Amendment to Waste Management Act - includes standards to improve circularity of EV battery wastes
The Korean Ministry of Environment announced legislation to unify waste management, including hazardous chemicals, and to improve waste-related regulations.The amendment includes standards to improve circularity of electric vehicle batteries waste. Under the amendment, the previous obligation to install waste recycling facilities will be exempted for electric vehicle battery wastes that are reused. To encourage electric vehicle battery recycling, both the storage and treatment period have been expanded from 30 days to 180 days. Support for SMEs with environmentally friendly technology
The Korean government will provide additional financing to support SMEs with a focus on innovative measures, particularly when developing technologies for the green economy.
A total budget of 3.7 trillion won was organized so that ventures and start-ups become the leading players of innovation.

Comprehensive Plan on Countermeasure on Climate Change
The Korean Government has established and implemented the Comprehensive Plan on Countermeasure on Climate Change since 1999. Creation of national heat map
The Korean government plans to create a national heat map by 2020. The map will include all the wasted and unused heat energy from power plants, incineration facilities, district heating facilities, fuel cells, and industrial facilities.
