                Alternative Fuels Law 4439/2016

                Law 4439/2016 incorporates Directive 2014/94/EU into Greek legislation, focusing on the deployment of alternative fuels infrastructure, including hydrogen. The law sets minimum specifications for hydrogen refueling points to reduce dependence on oil and minimize environmental impact in the transport sector. Goals include establishing a national policy framework to develop the market for alternative fuels, ensuring cross-border continuity, and promoting the deployment of hydrogen infrastructure in public transport services and densely populated areas

                National energy strategy


                Provide 52 % of the installed electrical power from renewable sources, of which 20 % is from solar energy, 20 % is from wind energy and 12 % is from hydraulic energy by 2030.
                Achieve 15 % energy savings by 2030, compared to current trends.
                Reduce energy consumption in buildings, industry and transport by 12 % by 2020 and 15 % by 2030. The breakdown of expected energy savings per sector is 48 % for industry, 23 % for transport, 19 % for residential and 10 % for services.
                Install by 2030 an additional capacity of 3,900 MW of combined-cycle technology running on imported natural gas.

The Energy-using Products Act (EBPG) was replaced in 2011 through the Energy-related Products Act (EVPG). The Energy-related Products Act (EVPG) contains the national law framework for the enforcement of product-specific implementing ecodesign measures laid down by the European Commission.                 Federal Act on the Supervision and Transparency of Wholesale Energy Markets

                The Federal Act on the Supervision and Transparency of Wholesale Energy Markets requires market participants to report information on their transactions and orders to the Federal Electricity Commission (ElCom). It also prohibits insider trading and market manipulation. The Act aims to increase transparency and strengthen the monitoring of these markets, as well as to reinforce confidence in their integrity.

                Federal act on the promotion of renewable hydrogen production

                The federal act includes provisions for hydrogen with the objective of achieving climate neutrality by 2040, aiming to install 1 GW of electrolysis capacity for renewable hydrogen production by 2030, and allocating up to 400 million euros over 10 years through competitive auctions for cost-effective implementation, with eligibility limited to new production facilities in Austria.

                Energy Strategy 2050

                The main goal of the Danish 2050 Energy Strategy is to achieve 100% independence from fossil fuel in the national energy mix by 2050.
                In a first step to completely phase out fossil fuels the government targets the drop in the consumption of oil, gas and coal by 33% between 2009 and 2020.
                The share of thermal production in total energy generation should also decrease from 71% to 40% over the same period.
