Deliberation of the Energy Regulation Commission of 20 January 2022, approving Storengy's investment program for 2022

Pursuant to Article L. 421-7-1 of the Energy Code (Code de l’Énergie), operators of underground natural gas storage facilities must submit annual investment programs to the Energy Regulation Commission (Commission de Régulation de l’Énergie) for approval. This aims to ensure investments are in line with energy security objectives, a proper development of storage facilities, a transparent and non-discriminatory access for all users and the lowest possible costs for users. Investments cover new facilities, regional works, renovation plans, integrity and security improvements as well as methane emissions reduction programs.  Regulated entity Storengy sent its 2022 investment…

The Long-Duration Energy Storage portfolio helps to advance Long-duration energy storage (LDES) systems toward widespread commercial deployment. The goal of this portfolio is to fund projects that will overcome the technical and institutional barriers that exist for deployment, with a focus on different technology types for a diverse set of regions, with different programs (Long-Duration Energy Storage Demonstrations Program, DOE/DOD Long-Duration Energy Storage Joint Program, Long-Duration Energy Storage Pilot Program (The project was launched in 2024 with an initial budget of USD 100 million), etc.)

Recovery and resilience plan - Green tax reform

…including those not related to energy in the agricultural sector. The first phase of the green tax reform is expected to lower GHG emissions by 0.5 Mt by 2030, due to taxes targeting industries' processing on fossil fuels. The tax reform would also include tax deduction for companies investing in capacity costs (technology and software).  In June 20222, the Government and 4 other political parties found an agreement on a major green tax reform:The agreement introduces a new CO2 tax at a rate of:DKK 750/tCO2 in 2030 for companies outside the EU ETS systemand DKK 350…

                CO2-cost compensation scheme for industry

A new co2-cost compensation scheme ("Standortabsicherungsgesetz 2025") has been enacted to relieve companies exposed to increased electricity prices and a demonstrable risk of carbon leakage for the years 2025 and 2026. It is based on the European Guidelines on certain State aid measures in the context of the system for greenhouse gas emission allowance trading post-2021 and intended to maintain the competitiveness of European energy-intensive industries by offsetting higher electricity prices resulting from the pass-through of European Union (“EU”) Emissions Trading System (“ETS”) carbon costs. A prolongation of the scheme is planned for the period 2027…

As of April 2025, the Indian Government is currently drafting new CO2 emissions standards for cars, CAFE IV (2033-2037), which have proposed WLTP CO2 emission targets of 70 g/km. This standard will be implemented with a super-credit mechanism making it easier for OEMs to reach compliance through electric car sales rather than through conventional ones.

                Renewable Energy 2035 Roadmap

In October 2024, Renewable Energy Roadmap for 2035 was launched. It is aimed to increase our cumulative solar and wind installed power capacity to 120 GW in 2035, and it is estimated that 80 billion USD of investment will be needed. According to the Roadmap it is planned that 14,700 km HVDC, with a total capacity of 40 GW, approximately 15,000 km AC line and 40 HVDC converter center will be built and the interconnection capacity will be increased to 6,750 MW in exports and 6,600 MW in imports within the context of the green transmission…

                Energy Security Strategy

The UK Government has released anew plan to raise domestic low-carbon hydrogen production from 5GW to 10GW by 2030 with half to be completely green. In the same context, UK aims to: run annual allocation rounds for electrolytic hydrogen, moving to price
competitive allocation by 2025 as soon as legislation and market conditions allow, so that up to 1GW of electrolytic hydrogen is in construction or operational by 2025; design new business models by 2025 for hydrogen transport and storage infrastructure; set up a hydrogen certification scheme by 2025.

Released in Budget 2025, Canada's Climate Competitiveness Strategy positions climate action as a lever for "boosting competitiveness and building a strong economy". The strategy advances aims to increase investment certainty, and commits to strengthening industrial carbon pricing and developing a post-2030 price trajectory. The strategy also announces plans to introduce legislation to deliver a clean electricity investment tax credit and enhance existing clean technology tax credits by expanding eligibility.
