Green Paper on Sustainable Energy
Published by the Department of Public Enterprise, the Green Paper on Sustainable Energy proposed the introduction of a carbon or energy tax scheme along with a tradable permit system to encourage industrial emissions reduction. Among other propositions, the paper sets forth a system to use revenue generated from a carbon tax or permit scheme to fund grants for energy audits and investments in energy equipment. Implementation of the Green Paper included launch of a €21.1 million R&D programme for energy efficiency and a €12.7 million Public Sector Design Programme.

Pan-Canadian Framework on Clean Growth and Climate Change
The Pan-Canadian Framework on Clean Growth and Climate Change is a ten-year program designed to fund environmentally friendly efforts from the mining industry to ensure a resilient sustainable value chain. The policy comprises a Clean Growth in Natural Resources Sector Innovation Program, which aims to increase support to develop and market low-carbon and competitive cutting-edge technologies. Developing a decarbonised industry suited to climate change induced transitions is one of the main drivers of the 86Mt of CO2 equivalent GHG emissions reduction described in the Pan-Canadian Framework. The funding program for the energy, mining and forestry…

Advanced Electricity Storage Technologies Program
The research and grant programme is designed to increase the commercial tractability of intermittent electricity generation sources such as wind and solar and improve their contribution to the power market. The programme will consider support for projects demonstrating batteries, electro-mechanical and chemical storage technologies in either on-grid situations, or off-grid situations that could lead to on-grid usage. The programme is now closed and funding has been fully committed. The programme has awarded funding to five projects.

Sustainable Transport - Better Infrastructure Strategy
The Danish government's long-term Sustainable Transport and Infrastructure strategy has as one of its objectives to reduce CO2 emissions from road transport, combining initiatives on green car taxes, investment in public transport, intelligent traffic systems and new roads. The elements of the plan are to be implemented over the next 10-15 years, aiming for a thorough shift towards a sustainable transport system. For road vehicles, the government will undertake a fundamental restructuring of vehicle taxation to encourage the purchase of energy-efficient cars. This will be combined with a road pricing policy to make it more expensive…

Regulation guidance to climate-proof future infrastructure projects
For the year 2021-2027, the European Commission has released new technical recommendations on climate-proofing infrastructure projects. The goal of the guidance is to include climate considerations into future infrastructure investment and development projects ranging from buildings to network infrastructure to a variety of built systems and assets. The guidance specifies that any project's operation, maintenance, and final decommissioning should be carried out in a climate-neutral manner, which may include circular economy concerns such as recycling or repurposing of materials, for infrastructure with a lifespan beyond 2050.New infrastructure projects' climate resilience should be ensured by appropriate…
