                The Smart Grid Master Plan

…plan amendment was approved in 2019. The amendment was based on the power grid stability with 20% of renewable energy in 2025, taking into account the power supply quality, user services and other directions. Referencing the international trend of power grid development, updating grid real-time monitoring and equipment protection, and applying advanced technologies such as AI, big data, and telecom technologies, the goals of the smart grid master plan to ensure a stable supply of electricity and take into account energy security, green economy, and environmental sustainability, while implementing energy transformation can be achieved.Vision:   A. Energy Development Plan to decarbonize the Economy

The Tanzania Energy Development Plan aims to decarbonize the economy by transitioning to 100% renewable energy by 2050. It aligns with Tanzania’s Development Vision 2025, focusing on solar, wind, and hydro energy expansion, electrification, and phasing out fossil fuels. The plan integrates energy efficiency, clean cooking, and transport electrification while ensuring economic and social sustainability.

Renewable Energy Directive - National transposition of the industry target

Quotas considered are the same as in REDIII. The legislation could be part of the broader national energy and climate strategy which still (by February 2025) needs public consultation, so the May 2025 deadline for transposition might not be met. Options being considered are quotas, financial incentives or both. A government-backed study suggests a mixed approach with corporate-level obligations complemented by a financial mechanism to close the cost gap for hydrogen users. 34 ktpa of renewable hydroegn could be needed to meet the targets

Sixth Strategic Energy Plan - 2050 Carbon neutral

The Government of Japan created the Strategic Energy Plan to formulate the direction of Japan's energy policy under the Basic Act on Energy Policy. Considering the changes in the energy situation since the Fifth Strategic Energy Plan was released in 2018, the government established the S+3E perspective to implement energy policy, which means the first and foremost ensuring stable supply and realising low cost energy supply by enhancing its efficiency on the premise of safety while making maximum efforts to pursue environment suitability. The Sixth Strategic Energy Plan has been formulated with two key themes: achieving carbon neutrality…
