                Industrial Energy Efficiency Data Analysis Project

                …of a comprehensive, national industrial energy use and energy savings dataset, based on real world data, which can be used to inform industry on areas of cost effective investment in energy efficiency as well as facilitating more prudent and informed government decision making. The Commonwealth will continue to update the IEEDA dataset with updated annual data and its integration with the IEEDA Tool. The most recent phase of the IEEDA project has included geospatial capability to allow for detailed geographical analysis of industrial energy use and energy supply data to support better management of future network demand and network growth.

                …2008-2012.
                During SDS 2008–2012, a reduction of dependency on fossil fuels in favor of renewable energy sources will be encouraged through implementation of five strategies:

                Promoting the sustainable use of indigenous energy resources and renewable energy technologies;
                Promoting partnerships with communities and all energy stakeholders, especially development partners, in the development of renewable energy programmes in Samoa;
                Exploring training opportunities to build up capacity in renewable energy technologies;
                Encouraging the commercial use of renewable energy research findings of the Institute of Research and Development; and,
                Enhancing public knowledge and understanding of renewable energy and its costs and benefits.

                Directive (EU) 2023/1791 establishes a common framework to promote energy efficiency within the Union. It sets binding EU targets to reduce energy consumption by 2030. Member States must achieve cumulative final energy savings with increasing annual rates and apply the “energy efficiency first” principle. The directive prioritizes households affected by energy poverty, the public sector, industry, and data centers.

                National Strategic Development Plan 2012/13 - 2016/17 (NSDP)

                …NSDP) is a medium-term plan aligned with a long-term plan of Vision 2020 that guides country’s developments in all sectors.
                One of the goals enlisted in the Plan is to develop green energy infrastructure to improve safety and reliability of electricity supply. Also the goal is to improve energy access via expanding electricity distribution network to greater number of households.
                The Development Plan indicates solar energy, onshore wind and hydropower with pump storage are key renewable technologies that country will be developing. Energy efficiency and biofuels development are also indicated as of great importance for the country.
