Nauru Energy Efficiency Action Plan 2008-2020
Energy Efficiency Action Plan 2008-2020 consists out of two sets of goals and strategies: short and long-term.
Long-term goals:
1) To alleviate poverty by improving citizen’s access to electricity and thus better living conditions
2) Reduce amount of imported fossil fuels though installations of affordable, efficient and “green” technologies and implementation of energy efficiency and conservation measures.
Short-term goals include:energy audit, installation of solar refrigerators in medical institutions for vaccine storage and conducting educational programmes and workshops increasing local awareness on energy efficiency and renewable energy. -

Challenge programme on AI-enabled platforms for critical materials discovery
In 2023, Canada continued its Challenge programme (started in 2019) with a new challenge on AI-enabled platforms for critical materials discovery that will provide funding for projects aligned with the 2022 Critical Minerals Strategy. A further challenge on the application of AI to improve the productivity of cleantech manufacturing is planned for 2025, and a programme on developing datasets and self-driving labs as innovation resources is underway.

Near-Zero Buildings
The Law no. 128 on energy performance of buildings was adopted on 11.07.2014 and entered into force on 01.01.2015.15. Nearly zero-energy buildings requirement will follow the timeline below: (1) After June 30, 2019, new public buildings must be buildings whose energy consumption is nearly zero. (2) After June 30, 2021, all new buildings must be buildings whose energy consumption is nearly zero.
