        Impact Canada Cleantech Challenges

        Between 2017 and 2025, Natural Resources Canada has invested $75M in six clean technology challenges under the Impact Canada initiative. These challenges were designed to address persistent barriers in cleantech development and adoption by setting ambitious but achievable goals to identify and develop breakthrough solutions. It attracted innovators to high-priority energy technology problems. The last energy challenge, which concluded in early 2025, was for advanced, rapidly deployable oil spill response solutions.         Faster and Further: Canada’s Methane Strategy

        The Energy Act 2008

        The UK Energy Act establishes a high-level framework for the regulation of offshore CO2 sequestration activities (activities in the United Kingdom territorial sea and other specifically designated waters). In this context, the Act provides for much of the detail of this framework to be elaborated in regulations made under the Act (see associated instruments). For this purpose, the UK Energy Act includes guidance on the key issues to be addressed in such regulations, including for the purposes of licensing, site operation and closure, any transfer of liability, and financial contributions to long term stewardship.

        Sustainable growth agenda / Pillar 1/ 4- Low-carbon solutions for communities and transport

        The Finnish Sustainable Growth Programme supports ecologically, socially, and economically sustainable growth and to meet its target of carbon neutrality by 2035.

         

        Within the first pillar of the plan ("The green transition supports economic restructuring and carbon-neutral welfare society"), this sub-area is structured with the following initiatives:

         

        - Fossil-free traffic roadmap

         

        - Tax reform for sustainable transport

         

        - Investments to promote the replacement of fossil fuels by supporting electricity and biogas use in public transport & refuelling infrastructure (EUR 20 million)

         

        - Investments for the deployment of charging infrastructure in housing associations and workplaces (EUR 20 million)
