                Japan 7th Strategic Energy Plan

The Seventh Strategic Energy Plan outlines policy issues to be addressed in the future and the direction of action under the principle of S+3Es (Safety, Energy Security, Economic Efficiency, and Environment), while taking into account the energy supply and demand structure in 2040 and beyond toward the realization of carbon neutrality.

10th Basic Energy Plan for Electricity Supply and Demand (2023-2036)

…electricity generation), which includes 6.1 TWh from hydrogen co-firing with LNG and 6.9 TWh from ammonia co-firing with coal. The plan also identifies stationary fuel cells as a critical renewable resource, projecting a rated capacity of 3,947 MW by 2036. By 2036, the government foresees a significant expansion of zero-carbon combustion, targeting 47.4 TWh of electricity generation from hydrogen and ammonia, representing 7.1% of the national energy mix. To support these technologies, the plan initiates the opening of a dedicated transaction market for low-carbon power sources like hydrogen and storage systems.

                SANS 941 - MEPS

The National Energy Efficiency Strategy of March 2005 (reviewed in October 2008 & 2011/12), proposes that by 2015, a final energy demand reduction of 12% should have been realised by South Africa. (Residential target (Residential target – – 10%) 10%)
This translates to an average reduction of 1% per year between 2005 and 2015. The publication of SANS 941: Energy Efficiency of Electrical and Electronic Apparatus in February 2012, is a necessary step taken to support compliance with the stipulated energy demand reduction requirements.

Governance Regulation - Energy Union and Climate Action

The Energy Union and Climate Action mechanism is designed to integrate national energy and climate plans covering ten year periods starting with 2021 to 2030, in order to meet climate goals. It aggregates EU and national long term strategies, reporting, monitoring and data publication. GHG emissions are expected to reduce by 40% by 2030 compared to 1990, use of coal is projected to decrease by 70%, and renewable energy is expected to reach 60% of electricity produced.
