2013 Tariff Implementation Plan released - Batteries and Electric Vehicles
The plan also contained the schedule of import tariffs for 2013 - including reductions on the temporary tariff for 40 products in 2013. Six of these were removed or changed at the end of the year. The remainder were renewed for at least one year subsequently. Affected products include batteries, electric vehicles inverter modules.

Import tariffs inflexion on new electric vehicles
The Mexican government created new tariff lines related to electric vehicles and eliminated the import tariffs they are subject to. The decree eliminates the import tariffs for the following three 8-digits HS codes concerning electric vehicles: 8702.90.07, 8703.90.01, 8704.90.01.

Subsidies for the purchase of new electric vehicles
The Italian government incentivises the modernisation of the country's light-vehicle stock through EUR 1 billion that will be available starting June 3 of 2024. The objective of the decree is to incentivise the phasing out of more polluting vehicles and to incentivise the purchase of new electric vehicles for a maximum of 13.750 EUR per request. The decree also foresees the installation of LPG or methane refuel stations.

EU Commission investigation on new battery electric vehicles for passengers- Pre-disclosure of provisional countervailing duties
As part of the ex-officio anti-subsidy investigation launched in October 2023, the EU Commission pre-disclosed provisional countervailing duties it would impose on imports of battery electric vehicles from China should discussions with Chinese authorities not lead to an effective solution by 4 July 2024. Vehicle Purchase Tax Exemption of New Electric Vehicles
Since 2014, the Chinese Ministry of Finance exempts the purchase of low-emission vehicles from a vehicle purchase tax.This fiscal policy has been renewed several times over the years and is still enforced until December 2023. Battery electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid vehicles, and fuel cell vehicles are eligible for this tax exemption. According to the State Administration of Taxation, this exemption over the year 2023 is expected to waive 100 billion yuan ($15 billion) in taxes.

New Vehicle Tax Exemption for Electric Vehicles - Federal Law for Taxes over New Vehicles
The Law enacted by the Mexican Government in 1996 defined the conditions for taxation of new vehicles, including who is required to pay, the type of vehicles sanctioned, importing rules and tax rates. It also established that "those vehicles which are propelled by electric batteries, or electric vehicles with integrated internal combustion or hydrogen-based engines" are exempted to pay the tax defined in the law. The law has been reformed several times modifiying the conditions and tax rates. The last published reform is DOF 30-11-2016.

Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles (FAME) Scheme - Phase I & II
The Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles (FAME) scheme was launched in April 2015 under the National Electric Mobility Mission, to encourage electric and hybrid vehicle purchase by providing financial support. Its first phase ran for four years until 2019. The second phase (FAME II) is a 3-year subsidy programme. It aims at supporting the electrification of public and shared transportation: around 7,000 electric and hybrid buses, 500,000 lakh electric three wheelers, 55,000 electric four wheeler passenger cars, and 1 million electric two wheelers.
