Energy Intervention Powers Act 2012 (EnLG 2012)
The government can prescribe and implement intervention measures for natural gas to ensure supply security. Certain gas volumes stored by end consumers are protected from control measures up to 50% of their previous year's consumption. Specific instructions can be given to gas companies regarding production, transport, distribution, storage, and trade. Gas distribution to end consumers is prioritized based on urgency, substitutability, and economic impact.

Improving energy efficiency in enterprises (I001)
Energy efficiency measures for enterprises will be supported if recommended in an energy audit, assessing energy consumption and proposing measures for buildings, technological equipment and means of transport. Measures include improving thermal protection of buildings, improving efficiency of existing equipment, introducing energy monitoring systems. Supported through OP KŽP (2021–2023) and Programme Slovakia (2024–2030). Coordinated by the Ministry of Investment, Regional Development and Informatisation; implemented by SIEA.

Energy efficiency target declared by Bulgaria under the EU Directive (2012/27/EU)
Under the EU Directive (2012/27/EU), Bulgaria set a target to increase energy efficiency by 25% until 2020 (5 Mtoe primary energy savings in 2020) and to reduce energy intensity by 50% until 2020 compared to 2005 levels.
