Victorian Minimum Heating Rental Standards
From 29 March 2021, the Victorian Government's new Residential Tenancies Regulations 2021 took force. Minimum rental standards covering energy efficiency requirements for space heating were included in a package of over 130 reforms to regulations.
By 29 March 2021, all rental properties must have a fixed heater (not portable) in good working order in the main living area at point of lease. Where a heater is not installed at this time, the rental provider (landlord) must install a heater meeting minimum energy efficiency requirements.

In the framework of the on-going transposition of the European Directive 2002/91/CE on the energy performance of buildings, the decree implements the Directive in all Regions.The Presidential Decree no. 59 of 2 April 2009 implements Article 4 a) and b) of Legislative Decree of 19th August 2005 No. 192, concerning the national implementation of EU Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD). Greener Homes Scheme
The Greener Homes Scheme provides grants to homeowners who intend to purchase a new renewable energy heating system. Originally the sheme covered both new and existing housing, but is now restricted to existing housing with new measures dealing with new housing under building regulations. The scheme is administered by Sustainable Energy Ireland (SEI) and aims to increase the use of renewable energy and sustainable energy technologies in Irish homes.
