Critical Energy Minerals Roadmap
The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation's Critical Energy Minerals Roadmap is a strategy that aims to unlock the economic potential of Australia's energy minerals by creating and demonstrating breakthrough technologies. The roadmap identifies ways to take advantage of Australia's potential and connect mining, manufacturing and energy sectors. Specifically, the roadmap suggests the adoption of more streamlined policy and regulatory frameworks together with new technical and economic regulations designed to facilitate the extraction and processing of energy minerals as well as to encourage the deployment of relevant technologies, such as the recycling of permanent magnets.

Net Zero Industry Act: CCUS
In March 2023 the European Commission introduced the Net Zero Industry Act, which proposes to establish a framework of measures to strengthen Europe’s net-zero technology products manufacturing ecosystem. The overall goal is to put Europe on a path to domestically manufacture at least 40% of its clean energy technology needs by 2030. The Act identifies carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) as one of the eight strategic net-zero technologies for which scaling up manufacturing capacity is critical to reaching the EU's climate goals. Specifically for CCUS the Act proposes:Accelerating permitting and defining strategic net-zero…

SCALE Act (Storing CO2 and Lowering Emissions Act)
…The Act aims to support the build-out of critical CO2 transport and storage infrastructure with an aim to support CCUS and CO2 removal technologies, while supporting regional economic opportunities and jobs in the country over a 5-year authorization period. The SCALE Act incudes components which aimed at:Establishing a CO2 Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (CIFIA) program to help support the development of shared CO2 transport infrastructure via flexible and low-interest loans, as well as grants. Providing grant support for commercial geologic CO2 storage projects.Supporting CO2 utilisation opportunities through measures authorizing the Department of Energy to…

EU CO2 Storage Directive
This Directive establishes a legal framework for the environmentally safe geological storage of carbon dioxide (CO2) "to contribute to the fight against climate change. The purpose of environmentally safe geological storage of CO2 is permanent containment of CO2 in such a way as to prevent and, where this is not possible, eliminate as far as possible negative effects and any risk to the environment and human health" (article 2).

Danish CCUS Fund
The CCUS Fund is a market-based, technology-neutral fund aimed at supporting carbon capture, storage and utilization. The government earmarked DKK 16 billion in subsidies to CCUS projects, to be distributed in two phases. The first phase aims to achieve CO2 reductions of 0.4 million tonnes per year from 2025/2026. In the first phase, funding will be allocated to either one major carbon source or a consortium of smaller carbon sources, which will then purchase transport and storage. Learnings from the first phase of the CCUS Fund and new market developments will be taken into account in…
