Accelerating Renewables Growth in ASEAN
…and recent national energy plans outline substantially higher ambitions for renewable capacity. Achieving these goals will require timely, sustained and strongly co-ordinated policy action to unlock the scale of renewable energy deployment needed by 2030 and beyond. This report examines the key challenges hindering a faster capacity deployment of renewable power in ASEAN and outlines potential policy solutions informed by successful international experience. It also provides an assessment of renewable-energy auction design options, an increasingly important procurement mechanism that is expected to account for around 60% of global capacity growth by 2030 and is already utilised in several…

Türkiye
…has pursued a restructuring of its energy system with the aim of rationalising energy demand growth, lowering energy prices and slowing the pace of import growth.
These reforms have included measures targeted at modernisation, liberalisation and increased domestic production capacity. Notably, Türkiye has seen considerable diversification of its energy mix in the past decade. Renewable electricity generation has tripled in the past decade and the commissioning of Turkey’s first nuclear power facility will further diversify the country’s fuel mix. Still, fossil fuels continue to drive Türkiye’s economy, with a heavy dependency on imports, especially oil and gas.- Overview

Why the growth of energy service companies is uneven globally
…as ESCOs, average market revenues increased by over 78% in the past three years.Overall, ESCO markets scale up where policy frameworks are durable, procurement rules are aligned with performance contracting, and projects are implemented through standardised processes. In markets lacking these conditions, high transaction costs, contractual complexity and policy uncertainty continue to limit demand. These barriers are most visible in smaller scale and residential building projects, where ESCO models based on energy savings are harder to implement. ESCO projects achieve 25% energy savings on average In 2024, ESCO projects achieved average reported energy savings of around 25% relative t...

Global battery markets are growing strongly – and so are the supply risks
…came from portable electronics; by 2025, this share had fallen to below 5%. Falling prices have been instrumental to this expansion. In 2025, average battery prices declined by 8%, supported by advances in manufacturing, improvements in battery chemistries and intensifying global market competition. Battery energy storage systems (BESS) saw the sharpest price declines, with average global prices in 2025 falling to one-third of levels seen in 2020.At the same time, regional price disparities have widened. In 2025, battery pack prices in China were 30% lower than in the United States, and 35% lower than in Europe. Record low lithium…
