Factsheet Last updated: February 2026 Overview The Strait of Hormuz is a narrow sea passage, separating the Arabian Peninsula and Iran, and connecting the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea. The Building-level Electricity Access and Demand Model is an open-source model developed through a collaboration between the International Energy Agency (IEA) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
