Under the New Model regulatory structure introduced in Brazil in 2004, most new power projects participate in auctions for long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) with energy distributors organised by Brazils electricity regulatory agency (Agência Nacional de Energia Elétrica, ANEEL).
