                Circular Economy Action Plan

…National Recovery, Transformation and Resilience plan that the country submitted to the European Commission. The plan includes the following energy-related initiatives:- Creation of a national inventory of closed or abandoned mining waste facilities containing critical raw materials: the public inventory will be accessible to companies willing to use these materials for their production processes.- Approval of a roadmap for the sustainable management of mineral raw materials: the objective is to promote the reuse and recycling  and support the circular economy as the default option for the supply of production processes. By fostering the use of domestic resources, this initiative…

It is expected to be operational during the summer of 2021-22. The investment supports the CEFC's Technology Investment Roadmap's strategic focus on energy storage as a priority technology. The VBB, which will be powered by Tesla Megapack batteries, will be owned and operated by Neoen, one of the world's top independent producers of 100% renewable energy. The extra power flowing between the States during the peak summer season will deliver support to the grid at critical times.

Target to reduce oil and gas sector methane emissions by 75%

Ahead of COP26 in November 2021, Canada announced that it would join the Global Methane Pledge and that it would commit to develop a methane reduction plan that would reduce oil and gas methane emissions by at least 75% below 2012 levels by 2030.  The announcement referenced the IEA's reports on methane, including the Net Zero by 2050 Roadmap. The announcement further noted that regulations will be part of achieving this goal.In announcing the target, Canada also reemphasised the goal it announced in 2016 to reduce oil and gas sector methane emissions by 40-45 percent below 2012…
