Energy Efficiency Outlook for India: Sizing up the opportunity
This report was produced as part of the Energy Efficiency in Emerging Economies (E4) Programme which is managed by the Energy Efficiency Division of the IEA.This analysis aims to inform government, businesses and other stakeholders about the prospects for energy use in India and the role that energy efficiency improvements offer in the period to 2040. It quantifies the potential energy savings and related CO2 emission reductions, and the associated costs and benefits of policies aimed at exploiting that potential. The report also includes energy efficiency policy recommendations for each sector covered.

The Potential of Behavioural Interventions for Optimising Energy Use at Home

Modest behaviour adustments can, over time, yield substantial energy savings on their own. Regional Energy Efficiency Policy Recommendations: Southeast Asia Region
Working with energy efficiency policy experts from ten countries in Southeast Asia, the IEA and partners including the Asian Development Bank, the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP), the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of Indonesia and the International Copper Association Southeast Asia (ICASEA) developed this set of twenty region-specific energy efficiency policy recommendations. These recommendations seek to help countries in Southeast Asia overcome barriers to energy efficiency uptake and realise the tremendous benefits of energy efficiency for their economies.

Reducing Emissions in Fossil-Fired Generation - Indonesia, Malaysia and Viet Nam
…intensity of coal-fired power generation, they are only part of the solution to improve the environmental impact of a power sector that is presently heavily dependent on fossil fuels – and increasingly on coal. Mounting environmental pressures will undoubtedly lead to a softening of the coal capacity targets, with a need for carbon capture and storage to be ultimately deployed. Improved energy efficiency and more ambitious implementation of clean energy technologies will be essential. Governments have a pivotal role in incentivising greater deployment of low-carbon generation by creating an enabling environment, together with private sector participation and international support.
