Efficient Grid-Interactive Buildings
Future of buildings in ASEAN A future with net zero emissions requires scaling up improvements in energy efficiency, electrification of end uses and renewable energy generation. For the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), a growing population and rising standards of living will massively increase future energy demand. Mitigating growing electricity demand and integrating renewable energy into electricity generation will therefore be paramount for the region’s clean energy transition and avoid lock-in of additional fossil fuel generation. The intermittent nature of variable renewable energy and increasing deployment of distributed energy resources are putting additional pressure on existing grids…

Decarbonisation Pathways for Southeast Asia
…Southeast Asia and Indonesia. This paper provides a comparison of modelling approaches, quantitative drivers, and results from the IEA and IEEJ pathways, highlighting areas of agreement, as well as identifying and explaining differences, and thereby to derive implications. The IEA pathway used in the comparison is the Announced Pledges Scenario (APS) from the World Energy Outlook 2022 and the Energy Sector Roadmap to Net Zero Emissions in Indonesia. The IEEJ pathway is the net zero CO2 emissions in 2050 or 2060 case (CN2050/2060) from the Decarbonisation of ASEAN Energy Systems: Optimum Technology Selection Model Analysis up to 2060 study.

…Scenario (SDS), which delivers on the Paris Agreement goal to limit the temperature to “well below 2°C, alongside the goals on energy access and air pollution. This scenario is consistent with Southeast Asia’s current announced climate aspirations. The Net Zero Emissions by 2050 Scenario (NZE Scenario), which sets out a pathway for the energy sector to achieve net zero CO2 emissions in 2050. It also achieves universal access to modern energy by 2030 and reduces energy-related air pollution significantly. The NZE Scenario provides a global benchmark against which changes at the regional level can be assessed. The NZE…

Southeast Asia Energy Outlook 2019
…but also some warning signs. Rising fuel demand, especially for oil, has far outpaced production from within the region. Southeast Asia as a whole is now on the verge of becoming a net importer of fossil fuels for the first time. Southeast Asia's electricity demand growth has been among the fastest in the world At the same time, Southeast Asia is well on the way to achieving universal access to electricity by 2030. Millions of new consumers have gained access to electricity since 2000, yet some 45 million people in the region are still without it today and many…

Oil Market Report - June 2017
The IEA Oil Market Report (OMR) is one of the world’s most authoritative and timely sources of data, forecasts and analysis on the global oil market – including detailed statistics and commentary on oil supply, demand, inventories, prices and refining activity, as well as oil trade for IEA and selected non-IEA countries. Highlights Recent weaknesses in demand growth are likely to prove transitory, particularly in post currency-reform India. Although global growth was only 0.9 mb/d in 1Q17, it accelerates in 2H17 and for the year as a whole our outlook remains unchanged at 1.3 mb/d. In 2018…
