Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Decarbonisation Innovation Programme
The United Kingdom government is financing projects leveraging the deployment of new artificial intelligence (AI) solutions to accelerate industrial decarbonisation through improving industrial energy efficiency. The UK's first Center for Excellence on AI innovation for decarbonisation (ADViCE) was established to provide virtual hub that will bring together industries, academics, and experts to promote research on AI solutions for CO2 emissions in industrial sector. The fund will be granted through calls for proposals for AI solutions for decarbonization, such as ultra-low-power AI technology, AI supporting grid management, solar PV production forecasts, and agricultural robotics.

German-Czech research collaboration for sustainable production
The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft and the VSB – Technical University of Ostrava signed a new research collaboration programme: “Fraunhofer Innovation Platform for Applied Artificial Intelligence for Materials & Manufacturing at VSB – Technical University of Ostrava FIP-AI@VSB-TUO”. Both partners work on energy management technologies, artificial intelligence, and smart production in industry. The cooperation will focus more particularly on innovative thermal energy storage systems in industry.

Package for the future - CO2 building renovation program
Package for the future is a programme designed to help Germany prepare for future challenges such as growing digitalisation and climate change. The programme aims to support research into the development of quantum computing, artificial intelligence, hydrogen power and electric vehicles. The Package for the future will continue to support the CO2 building renovation program, launched in 2015, for the energy renovation of buildings. To make buildings more energy efficient, the program offers low-interest loans and transfer subsidies to private individuals and housing companies. This program will receive around 2 billion euros for 2020 and 2021.

Germany Foreign Direct Investment Rules Amendment
Germany’s foreign direct investment (FDI) rules have been amended between 2020 and 2021 to extend the government’s screening rights. Package for the future is a programme designed to help Germany prepare for future challenges such as growing digitalisation and climate change. The programme aims to support research into the development of quantum computing, artificial intelligence, hydrogen power and electric vehicles. In this framework, several measures are implemented:

Package for the future is a programme responding to the Covid-19 pandemic, designed to prepare Germany for upcoming challenges: climate change and growing digitalisation.
The programme aims to support research and development in the field of quantum computing, artificial intelligence, hydrogen power and electric vehicles. The programme has an allocated budget of 50 billion euros, and offers tax breaks for targeted sectors.
The package includes financial and fiscal support for:
