Ali Saffar
Head of Division for Europe, Middle East, Africa and Latin America. Ali Al-Saffar is the Middle East and North Africa programme manager at the International Energy Agency, leading the IEA’s engagement with the region and acting as a key advisor to the executive management. Prior to this role, he was an energy analyst at the Directorate for Sustainability, Technology and Outlooks, where he co-authored seven editions of the IEA’s flagship long-term forecast, the World Energy Outlook.

Leo Varadkar
Prime Minister. Leo Varadkar became Prime Minister of Ireland in June 2017. He has been a member of Ireland’s parliament, the Dáil, since 2007 and previously held several ministerial positions, including Social Protection, Health, and Transport, Tourism and Sport.Mr Varadkar recently led the Irish Government in the development of an ambitious new Climate Action Plan with strong targets for energy efficiency, renewables and emissions reduction.

Brian Motherway
Head of Energy Efficiency and Inclusive Transitions Office. Brian Motherway is Head of the Office of Energy Efficiency and Inclusive Transitions at the IEA. He leads the Agency’s analytical and outreach programmes on energy efficiency worldwide, including a global programme of capacity building and engagement. He also oversees the Agency’s work on people-centred transitions, focusing on the social dimensions of energy policies, such as skills, social inclusion and energy affordability. Before joining the IEA, Brian was Chief Executive of the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland. He holds degrees in sociology and in engineering.

OEMLAC Director and Technical Advisor to the Executive Secretary of OLADE. Gastón Siroit is an energy and mining specialist with over twenty years of experience across Latin America and the Caribbean. He currently heads the OEMLAC and serves as Technical Advisor to the Executive Secretary of OLADE, leading regional initiatives on energy transition. His work focuses on regulatory frameworks, climate and energy policies, and project implementation for low-carbon development. Previously, he served as Technology Director at Argentina’s Secretariat of Energy and earlier held senior roles within Total and Shell in Europe, Africa, and South America.
