As of June 2005, the 211 Greek electricity consumers with demand capacity in excess of 1800 KW will be rewarded for reducing consumption during peak hours. Large electricity consumers have voluntarily agreed to reduce demand by 10% between 11h00 and 15h00 for a maximum of 10 days in July, following 24 hours notice. Consumers fulfilling their agreed reductions receive a monthly electricity bill rebate; those who fail pay an additional demand charge. Consumers not agreeing to systematically reduce demand are obliged to reduce their expected peak hour consumption by at least 10% for the entire month of July. Compliant consumers will receive a smaller rebate than those included in the Reduction Agreement; those failing to reduce month-long consumption will pay a smaller fine.
