Act No. 1396/2010 on the Production Subsidy for Electricity Produced from Renewable Energy Sources
Finland’s feed-in premium scheme supports renewable electricity production from wind power, biogas, forest chips and wood fuels. The scheme pays producers a premium based on the difference between a target price and the market price of electricity, with specific premium arrangements for biogas, wood fuel and forest-chip electricity. As renewable electricity is now considered profitable without subsidies in Finland, the schemes have been closed to new generation, including wind power since the end of 2017, although some existing renewable projects continue to receive support until the end of their contract periods.
