Energy Policy Bill

The government presented this bill to set out the long-term direction of Swedish energy policy. It proposed a planning goal to ensure that the Swedish electricity system can meet the needs of increased electrification. The bill also included a reliability goal to ensure the system can deliver electricity where and when needed, in sufficient quantities, and in an economically efficient manner. Unjustified barriers in the electricity system would be removed to promote an effective market with competitive prices. The government also assessed the need to review the current energy efficiency goal and took a comprehensive approach to the energy system.
