The mandate of renewable energy use in public buildings applies to newly or extended or reconstructed buildings that exceeds more than 3,000 square meters. Those buildings that fall under this category should generate a minimum of 10% of the building total energy demand from new renewable sources as of April 2011.

The obligation ratio will be enhanced gradually from 10% in 2011 to 20% in 2020, and the area will be reinforced with the standard of 1,000 square meters in 2012. It will be changed from previous policy, which invests in more than 5% NRE facilities of total construction cost for newly-built public buildings which exceed over 3,000 square meters by 12th April, 2011.
