Climate Status and Plan 2026

In October 2022 the Støre Government presented its first Climate Status and Plan. The government has since presented Climate Status and Plan annually. Climate Status and Plan for 2026 was presented in October 2025 and presents the governments climate action plan for 2030 and 2035. Norway has entered into an agreement with the EU to take part in EU climate legislation for the period 2021-2030. The climate cooperation covers the EU Emission Trading System (EU ETS), the Effort Sharing Regulation for non-ETS emissions (ESR), and the land-use, land-use change and forestry regulation (LULUCF). Climate Status and Plan for 2026 gives a detailed account of cross-cutting and sector specific policies and measures to reduce emissions.
