Large Energy Users Action Plan (LEAP)

The Government’s LEAP (Large Energy User Action Plan) sets out a ‘plan-led’ approach – for very large and energy intensive investments, like hyper-scale data centres. LEAP includes 17 key actions, to be delivered across Government, unlocking investment in the next generation of strategic energy intensive industry across Ireland’s regions.
 This plan-led approach will ensure that data centre growth is aligned with Ireland’s green transition, energy security of supply and energy affordability. It will also align with wider Government objectives, such as housing, transport and water.
  A key pillar of LEAP will be the identification of green energy parks, that co-locate energy-intensive industry with the supply of indigenous renewable energy.
 It will also unlock investment in Ireland’s renewable energy sector, including offshore wind.
