Financial assistance for ISO 50001 in commercial and institutional buildings

NRCan provides financial assistance to help implement ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems in commercial and institutional buildings. The current round of funding runs from April 2026 to March 2029. 

Funding will cover ISO 50001 Compliance (includes implementing an energy management system in accordance with all the requirements of the ISO 50001 standard) and ISO 50001 Certification (includes implementing an energy management system certified to the ISO 50001 standard), and selected projects must register their facilities in the ENERGY STAR® Portfolio Manager® benchmarking tool. 

Eligible organisations for this round of funding include commercial and institutional building owners and operators, municipal/provincial/territorial governments, utilities, industry associations, and Indigenous organisations.
